Carpet Cleaning - How to do so and When
Carpet is designed to actually hide dirt, but if you clean it only when you can SEE the problem, you are already too late. Would you only sweep your kitchen tile floor once a week and never mop it? Of course not! The same theory applies to your carpet.
Regardless whether you hire a professional carpet cleaner or plan to clean yourself the four most common methods are:
Under normal conditions (no smoking, no pets, and a low dust locale), you should vacuum your carpet at least once each week and deep clean it at least once each year. If you have allergies, children with allergies, pets, or all of the above, cleaning your carpet twice a week and deep cleaning at least 4 times annually is recommended. The more regularly you clean your carpets, the less dirt and pet dander will be ground into the base of the carpet and the longer it will last you. Before you rent a high-powered deep cleaning machine or hire a professional company, always be sure to check that the process you choose is compatible with the warranty on your carpet. Many times your warranty will actually require using a certain type of deep-cleaning method annually to maintain the warranty. Natural fiber carpets (i.e., wool, silk, etc) also require special attention.
